Ellis Wells is a 19-year-old rising star in motorsports from Rembert, South Carolina. A Mechanical Engineering major at UNC-Charlotte, Ellis graduated with honors from the NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI) in 2023, where he specialized in Automotive Technology and NASCAR. During his time at NTI, he began his internship with AK Performance, where he now races as part of their team. His home track is the Florence Motor Speedway in Timmonsville, SC.

 

Ellis’s racing journey began with sim racing on games like Forza and NASCAR Heat before transitioning to iRacing. Today, he competes in the Legends Car Racing Series, gaining real-world experience.

Alongside his racing, Ellis works with AK Performance, honing his car assembly and maintenance skills while learning race day operations. His work in the garage gives him rare technical expertise combined with racing ambition.

 

Unlike many of his peers who started karting at a young age, Ellis is charting his own path through hard work and resilience. What sets Ellis apart isn’t just his talent or his work ethic—it’s his mindset. Grounded, respectful, and fiercely committed to his goals, he represents the next generation of racers who are as comfortable in the shop as they are behind the wheel. He understands that racing is as much about relationships, strategy, and perseverance as it is about raw speed.
